Last Word Vest (2025)
Wool-mohair yarn produced at Green Mountain Spinnery, Putney, Vermont
In my hand-knit version of the Last Word Vest, by Thea Colman, I used a woolen spun single-ply yarn processed at Green Mountain Spinnery in Vermont. Supporting local wool and fiber production and processing is central to my work as a fiber artist. Because this yarn is spun so that the fibers are misaligned, it holds more air within the strand, creating a plump and squishy fabric, while still maintaining definition for the ribbing and lace patterns. I adapted Thea Colman’s original pattern to incorporate stripes that correspond with the repeating lace pattern, while adding new dimension.
