Repurposed clothing, red thread, push pins.

Patchwork Madonna (2020) reconciles the contradictory teachings of the Catholic Church that I grew up in with my lived experience as the only child of a single mother. I protect and honor the mother-child relationship represented in historical Madonna and Child imagery, while imbuing the symbols with my own life experiences by sewing the installation piece from scraps of my old clothing.
